What Is Yoga?

What Is Yoga? Student Testimonials

When posed with the question "What is Yoga" we find our misconceptions in the form of clichés and stereotypes arising. What we have been fed in the form of "processed yoga" can, in fact, interfere with a true experience of yoga. Then, all our intentions are leading us down the wrong path.

This ancient practice was originally brought to consciousness so that we as individuals, and we collectively as families and communities, might live a life with less suffering and sorrow and more joy and purpose. Welcome to class!

The real experiences of yoga begin to self-correct our thoughts, our words, and our actions to be more aligned with our true Self. We foster the stirring soul by nurturing and nourishing all our finest qualities so that they may awaken in service to our individual evolution and to the continuance of these qualities in our families and community.

Although there are many benefits that may be received along the way from commitment and consistency (see "99 reasons to practice yoga " and the "benefits of consistent practice" listings), I thought this would be a good opportunity to post some student sharings of their real life experiences as a result of their yoga practice. Enjoy, be inspired, be happy.

Jai Bhagwan, Honoring the Divine Always,
Jahnvi

Inspiration

the Self is the source of the whole universe
it fashions all forms of its own consciousness
though all forms are changing and soon fade away
the one conscious Self is forever the same
